Who I am

The before what I do now bit

There's no getting away from it – I've been around for a while and so with that comes a lot of life experience that probably looks a bit like an irregular heart monitoring graph! I spent many years in the fairly ruthless world of corporate business and also apparently having good eye/hand co-ordination meant a lot of time bashing a squash ball and golf ball about in a competitive arena. About 13 years ago I started scratching my head about some of the things I did that clearly did not give me what I wanted but yet I kept on doing them! I seemed to be stuck on a wheel of repeatability and I wanted to get off!

The bit in the middle

So, with a well-fuelled fascination with unwanted behaviour patterns and probably a need for much more self-awareness I embarked on a five year training stint to learn about the brain and why we do what we do. I also learnt that we can change the way we think, behave and communicate to become much more effective and resourceful much to the relief of my husband, my daughter and truth be told the dog and the cat! Joking aside, once I started putting in to practice what I had learnt my relationships across all walks of life began to be a lot easier and fulfilling and also achieving the things I want has become an enjoyable challenge rather than an uphill energy zapping slog.

The now bit

Coupled with my background in business and sporting performance along with my psychological knowledge of what makes us tick I decided to set up on my own. I could call myself a Therapist, a Coach and a Performance Specialist but blimey what a mouthful! I probably sit somewhere across all three but the main point is that I have enough experience and qualifications to help you get rid of or change the negative stuff that is holding you back and to help you move forward with a mindset that is resourceful and focused on what you do want.

Apart from a degree level education in business, I am qualified to an advanced level in psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, cognitive behaviour and counselling. I have also trained in Neuro-Linguistical Programming (NLP) to Master level, gained a diploma in Sports Psychology and studied Positive Psychology to become a qualified Strengths Practitioner. The qualification process I took included over a 1,000 hours of classroom training, over 450 hours of practice and volunteer placements before embarking on a fee paying structure. Coupled with my extensive experience in business, sport and general life the rigorous training programme I went through has been invaluable for me to be able to provide well rounded and effective outcomes.
